What is Acupuncture?

Traditional Chinese Medicine teaches that the body has an intricate network of energetic pathways, known as meridians, that help connect and support every system of the body. When this flow becomes disrupted, we may begin to experience physical discomfort, emotional imbalance, or other signs that the body is asking for support.

Acupuncture uses ultra-fine needles placed at carefully selected points in order to stimulate these energetic pathways and encourage the body back towards balance.

Acupuncture has been practiced for over 3,000 years. It is a holistic medicine, meaning it looks at the person as a whole and focuses on restoring the entire mind, body and spirit, versus treating one-off, isolated symptoms.

From a modern scientific perspective, acupuncture has also been shown to influence the nervous system, circulation, connective tissue, and the body's natural pain-relieving and regulatory mechanisms.

Research suggests acupuncture may stimulate the release of endorphins and other neurotransmitters, help calm the nervous system, reduce inflammation, improve blood flow, and promote the body's ability to repair and recover.

Whether you are looking at the ancient or modern perspective, acupuncture has the same function: supporting the body's natural ability to regulate, repair, and restore balance.

Acupuncture helps restore harmony from the inside out. Promoting not only symptom relief, but lasting wellness and vitality.
